Modder East residents ask metro to cut grass

Zanele Phala finds it difficult to understand why the metro neglects Modder East by not cutting the grass.

She claims all they want from the metro is for them to provide services to their suburb.

“The grass in the park in Waverberg Road and on pavements hasn’t been cut since November and this is just a dangerous spot for criminals to hide,” she says.

Ward councillor Ramesh Sheodin says the much needed rain is aggravating the problem all over Springs.

According to metro spokesman Themba Gadebe the grass has been cut according to their grass-cutting schedule from November until December.

“Due to heavy rains it has been difficult to cut the grass as some areas are water-logged,” he says.

The metro urges residents to be patient as they remain committed to dealing with the issue.
