Heavy rain and flooding may follow Dineo: tips for staying safe

With cyclone Dineo moving from Mozambique towards the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces, it is possible that Gauteng may see some heavy rains this weekend.

If this does occur it is important to exercise special caution if you are forced to be on the roads.

While it is preferable not to get into your car in very heavy rains, if you must go somewhere remember to avoid low-lying areas, especially those which are well-know for flooding.

Within Springs these areas include the subway bridges on Fifth Avenue, CDB and Fourth Avenue in Geduld.

Ermelo and Welgedacht roads are other tricky customers prone to flooding.
