Robbed by ‘taxi’ driver

A trip in a "taxi" resulted in a 22-year-old man being robbed at gunpoint in Luanda Drive, Reedville, on Monday.

The victim was under the impression that the driver, who offered him a lift at 11.50am, was a registered taxi driver.

SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says there was another passenger in the so-called taxi who surprised the victim by pointing a gun at him.

“The two suspects robbed the victim of a laptop, four cellphones and R1 750 in cash before dropping him off,” says Ramphora.

An armed robbery case was opened at the police station.
