She was celebrating her 37th birthday when her boyfriend allegedly doused her with paraffin and set her alight.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, the couple’s neighbours heard them arguing, followed by a large explosion.

“When the neighbours entered the house, they saw the burnt woman on the floor in one of the rooms.

Ramphora says the neighbours claim the deceased cried out “help me, my body burned”.

“We were shocked when we saw her burnt body and found most things in the room were burnt, but the boyfriend was nowhere to be found,” says Ramphora.

Lobs suffered third degree burns to her body and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“The hospital phoned us on December 30 at 7.10pm to inform us she had died,” says Ramphora.

An attempted murder case was then changed to a murder investigation.

The police are trying to compile an identikit of the suspect, who is still at large.
