Quick response leads to two arrests in Dersley

The quick reaction of the Springs SAPS resulted in the arrest of two suspects on Saturday.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, SAPS spokesman, says the two suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property and possession of a hijacked vehicle.

The task team reacted to information about a hijacked VW Golf 7 at Cloverfield Street, Dersley, at approximately 11am on Saturday.

Ramphora says on arrival they found the two suspects, aged 51 and 60 years old.

“We searched the vehicle and found a revolver, two rounds of ammunition, 60 ID books suspected to be stolen and car registration papers,” says Ramphora.

Some of the ID books were without photos.

On further investigation it was established that the vehicle was hijacked in Mpumalanga in December.

Police are investigating whether the suspects are linked to previous cases.
