Burning tyres block Ermelo Road during protest
Springs SAPS were deployed to Kwazenzele Informal Settlement in Endicott earlier today (Wednesday) when residents blocked the road with burning tyres in protest of the Red Ants allegedly removing their shacks on Tuesday.
Approximately 20 people placed rocks and burning tyres in Ermelo Road passing the informal settlement.

Springs police spokesman capt Johannes Ramphora says it is not a violent protest.
“There are still burning tyres and rocks blocking the road, therefore, motorists should be careful when using the road to Endicott,” says Ramphora.
He says SAPS Public Order Policing are patrolling the area to maintain law and order.
