A fund-raising event with Kattitude

The funds raised at the Kattitude fund-raising event held in Selcourt on Friday will make a real difference in the lives of feral cats in and around Springs.

Instead of donating money, which most people try to avoid, the community can make a difference by supporting these events.

Linsey Russell, Kattitude fund-raiser, says the event was held to raise funds to be able to pay for the sterilisation and rabies vaccination of the feral cats.

“Every bit helps and the support of the community is vital,” she says.

The three passionate women behind Kattitude, Tanya Kitching, Mandy Thorpe and Sandra de Freitas-Mitrosparas, were seen selling boerewors rolls and giving out information on what the organisation does.

Tanya says people should go onto Kattitude’s social media page and become a member.

“Membership is free and all our information is visible,” says Tanya.

Charity organisations need to spend money to raise money, according to Tanya.

But she says they depend on the support of the community to make these events a success.

Charity organisations need to host fund-raising events to help them with their day-to-day costs.

“This includes the veterinary bills, the traps and transport costs,” says Tanya.

Dunnottar resident Helena Lee, who brought her four Yorkshire Terriers to the event, supported the photo booth where the dogs posed with Father Christmas (Liame van Jaarsveldt).

“What an incredible way to help the feral cats,” she says.
