Springs man hacked to death with panga and stick

A cattle keeper was killed by two men armed with a panga and a stick in Slovo Park.

Nelson Dube (age unknown) was herding cattle with a friend at 4pm, when he was attacked by two unknown suspects on Sunday.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the deceased was walking in front of the cattle while his friend guarded the cattle from behind.

The friend noticed the two suspects attacking the deceased with a panga and a stick.

Ramphora says the friend ran to ask for help and was assisted by a passer-by who informed the Springs police.

When the police arrived on the scene they found the body of Dube with multiple wounds to his body.

The police called for paramedics, who declared Dube dead on the scene.

A murder case was opened at the police station.

Ramphora says the reason for the attack is unknown.
