Springs police arrested the woman on the evening of November 11 and charged her with kidnapping, purgery and defeating the ends of justice.
Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the accused allegedly removed the baby from a house in Eastvale.

The accused allegedly called the baby’s grandmother, who found her daughter (age unknown) and granddaughter (2) in the house.
“The grandmother looked for the baby, but couldn’t find him, and, upon further investigation, it was suspected that her daughter had been drugged,” says Ramphora.
When the police arrived on the scene they found an empty medicine bottle on the floor.

Upon further investigation, the police and Barries Barnard, from Hi5Kids Recovery Unit, found the baby in Selection Park, on November 12.
The woman appeared in court last Wednesday and was granted bail of R1 000.
Ramphora says the case was postponed to December 12.
