The SAPS departments involved are Social Crime Prevention and Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

The aim of the 16 Days of Activism is to raise awareness about women and child abuse.

“Our vision is to protect, serve and make people aware of women and child abuse,” says Ramphora.

The first outreach started on Friday when several of these organisations, including the police, visited a local school and talked about drug abuse.

Ramphora says at a visit to another school on Wednesday they planned on talking about bullying and drug abuse.

“We should never stop believing that we can make a difference if we stand together and reach out to those who are most affected,” he says.

These organisations plan on visiting Vita Nova Centre in Daggafontein on December 2 as well as the Far East Rand Hospital on December 9.

They also plan to visit old age homes in Springs and hand out cupcakes on December 10.

Anyone who wants to contribute or join them in making this time of raising awareness a success can contact Henry Harber from Wild Wild Guardians on 076 176 3558.
