Youth rugby players enjoy prize giving

The Springs Youth Rugby Club held their annual prize giving and year-end function on Saturday evening.

Scores of prizes were handed out during the Springs Youth Rugby Clubā€™s annual prize giving and year-end function held at the Fabu-Leux venue on the Springs Technical High Schoolsā€™s grounds on Saturday.

Prizes for best coaches of the year, best managers of the year, and best novice players were awarded in addition to 38 individual prizes for the top players in each age group.

“We are incredibly proud of each and every player and would to thank everyone who made this season a success,” club chairman William de Jongh says. The following players of the year were announced:

U/6: Zian Combrink was player of the year and Cruz Jackie announced as the playerā€™s player.

U/7: Danie du Preez, Miguel Deysel, Kadin van Heerden.

The playerā€™s players were Jayden Klopper, Donewin Martins and Arno Kruger.

U/8: Ray Horn. The best backline player was Duncan van der Merwe and best forward was Theo Greyvenstein.

U/9: Janru Seyffert. Eathan Britz was announced as the best forward and Agrippa Mthethwa as the best backline player.

U/10: Vian van Dyk.

The best forward was Tyron Hand and Corne Pretorius was best backline player.

U/11: Zander Lourens. Anro Harmse was the best forward and Zander Jongh was the best backline player.

U/13: Willem de Klerk and Gunther Jacobs.

Tiaan Cornelius and Zander Marais were named best forward while Marko as it and Tyronne Snyman best backline players.

U/14: Ntokozani Jiyane.

The best forward was Albert Burens and Nico Grobler.

U/15: Derik Buurman Andre Nel received the award for best forward and Wilco Ras was best backline player.

U/18: Krynauw Brits and Rohan Barnard Ean Wirths won best forward player and Tyron Boesak was named best backline player.

Ricardo Chapman, who is an U/18 player now, received a special award for being part of the club since he played U/13.

After the formalities, players and their families were invited to attend a dinner or simply hang around for drinks and chatter about the highs and lows of the season.
