LISTEN: Chamber hosts executive event

An executive event was hosted by the Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EGCCI) in cooperation with industry and businesses in Falcrum and New Era on Friday.

The goal of the event was to establish a forum to promote mutually beneficial commercial relationships, to improve the surrounding environment, and to develop safety and security communications.

“We want to keep business in Springs and support each other,” says EGCCI president Mary Reynolds.

Reynolds urged all Ekurhuleni businesses to sign up with the chamber in order to expand the support network.

“Why go to Midrand to get your labels done when you’ve got a guy down the road who does labels,” says Reynolds.

Local business owner Aki Moutafis highlighted his goals during a presentation at the event.

His short-term outcomes are to get connected with other local businesses at a decision making level, to establish a platform for effective communication, and to then address immediate concerns in the area.

In the long-term he would like to see the chamber network be expanded to the whole eastern Gauteng block, to improve the surroundings to uplift the community, to invest back into the community, and to create synergies between local companies.

“Companies partner with communities, companies learn from communities, companies invest back into communities, investments uplift and improve communities, and as a result companies create sustainable value,” says Moutafis.

Local businessman Ricki Reynolds unveiled an app that he created which will serve as an electronic directory of all businesses registered with the chamber.

“The Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry wants to move forward,” says Reynolds.

The app will be available in the Apple iStore and Google Play store from February 2017.
