Park Run comes to town

Park Run organises weekly, 5km, timed runs held in 14 countries across the world which are open to anyone and absolutely free.

Event directors, Mariette Rossouw and Leani van Wyk, discovered that many Springsites commute to surrounding towns to participate in these runs.

“Why drive to Boksburg or Benoni if we can do it right here in Springs?” says Rossouw.

The event will take place in President Park every Saturday starting on November 19.

Runners of every ability can join as you will only compete against your own previous best time.

Park Run uses age grading which takes your time and uses the world record time for your sex and age group to produce a percentage.

This allows you to compare your personal performance against others’ even though they might be a different gender and age than you.

With 83 other locations across South Africa runners can get their tekkies ready and get hyped for an amazing time.

If you simply can’t wait anymore visit the Boksburg or Benoni events in the mean time to get a better idea of what it’s all about.

Visit www.parkrun.co.za for more information and keep and eye on the Addie for event dates and times.
