Man’s (73) throat slit during robbery

Annan Naidoo's body was found by two Bakerton CPF members in his Bakerton house at 7.41pm on Thursday.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman the deceased had an open wound to his neck when found.

“We believe the injury caused the 73-year-old man’s death,” says Ramphora.

The police arrived at the scene shortly after the CPF members informed them of a house robbery.

Ramphora says when the two CPF members arrived at the scene they noticed the front door of the house was open.

Upon further investigation they found the body of the man in one of the bedrooms and noticed the open wound to his neck as well as blood on the pillow.

“We noticed the house was searched as everything was turned upside down,” says Ramphora.

Currently the police cannot establish if anything was removed from the house as the deceased was living alone at the time.

Ramphora says they opened a murder case and urge the community to contact them with information which may help them with their investigation and that might lead to the arrest of the suspect.
