Robbers tie up Eastvale family

Armed robbers tied up a family in their house in Eastvale on Friday.

The family was asleep at 3am, but the woman was awakened by a flashlight shining in her face.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the armed men asked the woman “who else is in the house”.

One of the men demanded the keys for the family’s vehicle.

Ramphora says two other armed men entered the bedroom accompanied by the woman’s two children.

The three family members were tied up while the robbers searched the house.

A TV, radio, three tablets, a microwave and a cellphone was taken from the house and loaded into the family’s vehicle in which the suspects fled the scene.

“One of the victims managed to untie herself and when she left the house, she noticed the lights of a police vehicle outside the premises,” says Ramphora.

Ramphora says no arrests have been made but a case of house robbery was opened.
