Bowlers support Springs Fever Trips

It was a good turnout of 24 teams who competed in the Spring Fever Trips played at Springs Bowling Club on Wednesday.

According to competition secretary and vice president Izak Hattingh, the competition was initiated by club member Dominico Ragusa six years ago.

The competition was called Dominico’s Trips at first and became an annual event.

However, this year the name was changed to Spring Fever Trips because the four week tournament started on August 31, a day before Spring Day.

“The tournament lasts five weeks,” says Izak.

Points scored every week are added up to establish who goes through to the next round.

Izak says each Wednesday’s winners will play against each other and this continues until the final games are played.

The five clubs competing are Springs Bowling Club, Delmas, Brakpan Mines, Modderbee and Benoni Lake Club.

Members also use this tournament as a medium to get into top form for the 11 league games starting on October 29.

The tournament is also used as a fundraising event that helps raise much-needed funds for the club.

“We are grateful to all the clubs who support us in this venture,” says Izak.

The scores will only be available after completion of the tournament.
