Springs man accused of sexual offences on minors

A Springs man was arrested for allegedly molesting two minors, one a seven-year-old.

The 39-year-old man briefly appeared in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for the second time after his arrest last Thursday.

He is allegedly being accused for sexual offences against at least six victims aged between six and 10 years.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the bail application hearing was postponed to September 27.

“The mother of the seven-year-old victim opened a sexual offence case at the police station against the accused on August 29.”

The incident allegedly happened during a sleep over at a friend’s house on August 20.

Ramphora says the mother allegedly noticed something was wrong on her daughter’s body and asked her about it.

The daughter allegedly told her mother of an incident that occurred at the sleep over.

The mother then allegedly informed the other victim’s mother of the incident who also reported it to the police.

“The accused remains in custody at Modderbee Prison until his next court appearance,” he says.
