SAPS enjoys Casual Day with bring and braai

Members of the Springs police celebrated Casual Day at the lapa at the police station with a bring and braai on Friday.

They combined Casual Day with a team building session.

Casual Day is a project that raises funds for services for people with disabilities.

Col Hazel Nkabinde, head of the Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) unit, and also the organiser of the event, says they will always support Casual Day as it is for a good cause.

“During this event we stress the importance of this day through awareness and raising funds.

“We have a few members who are disabled due to injuries on duty and therefore we will always support this good cause,” she says.

Members from the administration office and management, the EHW, detectives unit, Public Order Policing and Crime Intelligence Security attended the bring and braai.

Nkabinde says they encourage team building to get the different units together.

She was quite surprised when the Casual Day representatives handed over a cake on Friday morning in appreciation of support to this worthy cause.

Part of her duty as a social worker and head of the EHW is to make sure the police offices are disabled friendly.

Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says their team building goal is to get the different units together to enjoy Casual Day.

“Due to our line of work it is not always possible, but we planned to incorporate a team building exercise with Casual Day, and it worked,” he says.
