Rookies score a win
The Springs Old Boys Rookies u-12 soccer team, led by Ronnie Slava, played the semi-finals against the Birch Acres team of the premier division last Sunday.
The Rookies started off with good foot work, but it was not enough as the first half ended in a stalemate with neither side scoring.
When the second half started, the Rookies came out more dedicated.
Lungile “Lungsta” Vilakazi out-ran the defence and scored the first goal of the match.
After about 10 minutes Lungsta gained possession of the ball and passed it on to Aiden James who then made the second and final goal for Springs Old Boys.
Some sloppy defending from the Rookies allowed Birch Acres to score a goal.
The match ended at 2 – 1, a win for the Springs Old Boys.
The SOB u-12 team won the Eastern League after playing against Bonaero Park and winning 5 – 0.
