11-year-old boy experiences house robbery

An 11-year-old boy was a victim of a house robbery, in Derby Street, Springs Extension, last Wednesday.

The minor was watching TV after school, at 2.39pm, when two unknown men entered the room.

“The boy was alone at home when the robbers grabbed him and tied his hands and feet with electrical cords,” says Capt Johannes Ramphora, the Springs police spokesman.

He adds that the boy noticed that one of the intruders was armed with a firearm.

The robbers took a TV set, two cellphones and jewellery and left the scene.

Ramphora says the child managed to untie himself and asked for help from the owner of the house, who called the police.

The boy and his mother live in a room on the premises.

A case of house robbery was opened at the police station.
