Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro states: “The problem with this line is that the illegal miners keep tempering with the sewer line and blocking it, which result in the sewer being blocked.
“The line is also old and we are planning to replace it. We have already allocated it to a contractor and once the preparations are complete the work will be done within this current financial year.”
Gadebe adds that Ekurhuleni technicians do attend to the line when it is blocked and states the line is currently open.
