Teenager (13) faces three robbers alone at home in Bakerton

A 13-year-old boy had to face three robbers, two of them armed with firearms, while alone at home in Bakerton on Wednesday.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, the teenager claims he thought the white double cab parked in front of their gate was a courier service delivering a parcel.

“The teenager opened the gate and unlocked the front door,” he says.

Three suspects, two with firearms, got out of the vehicle and walked towards the front door.

Ramphora says the two armed suspects pointed their guns at the teenager and threatened him.

The suspects wanted to know where the safe was and instructed the teenager to go to his room, where they tied up his hands and legs.

Ramphora says the suspects allegedly left the bedroom and searched the house.

They took a PlayStation 3, Xbox, four TV sets, two computer screens, a camera, laptop, the house keys, speakers and a hi-fi and left the house.

The stolen goods were loaded into the vehicle and they drove off.

A case of house robbery was opened at the police station and the case is being investigated.
