Gracious Leonie

Springs resident Leonie Cronje (39) was recently nominated as one of the Lady Gracious SA finalists 2016.

Purpose, destiny, dream and Crowned for His Glory is the motto of the Lady Gracious SA and Man of God SA pageant, established by founder Suret Ströh seven years ago.

Lady Gracious SA offers an opportunity to women aged between 10 and 55 years, while Man of God SA is for men aged between 10 and 55 years.

Although winners are being announced once a year, no one is competing against each other.

“We support each other in prayer, with love and daily devotional messages,” says Leonie.

It is not a beauty pageant, but motivates participants to find their identity in God, as well as to find their inner beauty and purpose in life.

Leonie says through this they build self-confidence to make a difference in the community and in the lives of underprivileged people.

One of Leonie’s friends sponsored dresses for Lady Gracious 2015, and it was then that Leonie’s curiosity got the better of her and she made a choice to find out what the pageant was about.

“I was totally hooked after listening to last year’s winners and knew this was a family and a journey I had to belong to.

“We believe that making a difference is important, therefore they choose a different charity organisation each year,” she says.

This year’s proceeds will go to Avril Elizabeth Home.

She will host a fund-raising event called Cup A Grace on August 5, at Fabu-Leux in Wit Road, CBD (previously known as the Technical High School hostel).
