Two locals to fight in EFC 51

Only two of the local EFC fighters will climb into the cage at Carnival City tonight.

Two local Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) mixed martial arts fighters, will be fighting tonight (July 15) in EFC 51 at Carnival City.

Tumisang ‘The President’ Madiba (27) will take on Anicet Kanyeba in a lightweight bout.

“When I enter the ring I only think of the hard work and preparation done prior to the fight,” he says.

This ex-Springs Boys High School pupil recently moved to Cape Town, but is still managed by XKT Pro League’s James Read.

“I am always confident with every fight,” he says.

His corner man during the fight will be Francois ‘Franaconda’ Groenewald.

Tumisang has been enjoying kickboxing for the past four years and also trained hard at a Cape Town gym to prepare himself for the fight.

He says he is grateful for the support of the community of Springs and Kwatsaduza for backing him.

“I have nothing but love and respect for my supporters,” says Tumisang.

Pietie ‘Thunder’ Coxen (33), an ex-boxer, is set to fight against Ambamba ‘Robo’ Matala (28) between 6pm and 8pm.

This will be Thunder’s sixth fight in the welterweight bout.

He says Robo is a stand-up fighter just like himself, but is also a ‘wild’ and strong fighter.

“EFC has rated me as the Knockout King,” he says.
He thrives and lives to fight and claims the ring is the best place to be.

Thunder says they will stick to the game plan.

Jasen ‘Money’ van der Merwe was set to fight his ex-training partner DuHo Kim, but the fight won’t be able to take place.

EFC medical team deemed Kim unable to compete as he is suffering from a lung infection.

Coach JP Kruger, of House of Tinkerbell in Springs, whom whom Tumisang trained before his move to Cape Town, says they want theit fighters locals to enjoy their fights and to honour Jesus.
