Short notice fight set to be a blast

Three updates have been made to the EFC 51 fight card in the past week with Springs' JP 'Tinkerbell' Kruger accepting the fight last Friday.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) showdown will take place at Carnival City on July 15 and JP take on Jeremy ‘Pitbull’ Smith from Pretoria.

In addition, it has been announced the fight between the DRC’s Igeu ‘Smiley’ Kabesa and South Africa’s Hanru ‘The Bully’ Botha has been postponed.

This fight will be replaced by the clash between South Africa’s Gareth Buriski and Brazil’s Magno ‘Popeye’ Alves.

JP took the short notice fight on Friday when EFC called him, saying “I’m always ready.

“I’m a martial artist which means every single day I am training to better myself and my skills.

“We have three weeks and lots to do but I’m excited.”

He believes that this is going to be an explosive fight which will keep the supporters on both sides rivetted.

Jeremy is coming back after a break of over 18 months but this, according to JP, will not diminish the quality of the fight.

“He is a great boxer, he has good wrestling skills and I think he’ll come out fighting.

“We are going in to play MMA and it’s going to be a ball on the evening.”

JP will be leaving for PE tomorrow (Friday) for a training camp to ready himself for the bout and, as always, acknowledges his team for their help and support.

“I’m so blessed to have the support of my beautiful wife Tracey, my manager James Read, XKT Pro League, Chris Bright, Huntley Smith and all my sparring partners.”
