Multiplayers face a tough game

The Multiplayers Football Academy and Siwelele Football Club's respective u-13 teams played a South African Football Association league game on Saturday at the Welgedacht Stadium.

The match kicked off at 1.30pm and saw both sides put up a brutal fight to the finish.

Siwelele’s players seemed prepared and ready to take casualties as they kicked off the first-half with a goal from Themba Maditsi, early into the game.

“I don’t want my boys to be discouraged,” says Multiplayers coach Matome Maselela, “it’s still early so let’s see how the rest of the game goes.”

To the dismay of the Multiplayers, Nkosinathi Motha of Siwelele FC, surprised everyone shortly after coach Matome’s words were spoken.

This placed Siwele at a lead of 2-0 against Multiplayers by the end of the first-half.

As the second-half kicked off, Multiplayers were kept on their toes as they fought hard to avoid conceding any more goals.

“They are sweating for victory,” says Matome, “I can see they really want this.”

“The other team is just really strong today.”

Almost half-way into the second-half, Charity Ngwatla of Siwlele scored the third goal of the game.

While his teammates celebrated, the Multiplayers tried hard to hold back the discouragement.

“I don’t want them to give up yet,” adds Matome, “they must still play like the champions they are.”

Snethemba Mlotha scored for Siwelele FC at the eleventh hour, sealing the victory for his team.

The final score at the end of the game was 4-0 to Siwelele Football Club.

“I can’t say we are not disappointed,” says Matome, “we just have to go back to the drawing board and come back stronger next time.”
