BREAKING: Three arrested with explosives

Explosives confiscated on Nigel Road.

Three suspects have been arrested for possession of explosives in Nigel Road, Selection Park this afternoon (Monday).

SAPS members, as well as members of the SAPS Explosives Unit, were called to the scene between Oppenheimer Circle and Coaton Avenue at around 2pm.

Pierre Taljaard, chairman of the Selpark CPF, confirmed the single cab white Mazda contained several explosives.

He commented these are allegedly the type of explosives commonly used in ATM bombings.

He also confirmed five suspects have been arrested.

An eye witness, who wished not to be named, allegedly identified one of the suspects as one of a group of suspects who robbed a business in Dersley in December.

While she does not want to be identified in the media, she says she is willing to be called to the police station to identify the suspect.

The vehicle and the explosives were taken to the police station.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, was not available for comment.

More details will follow when these become available.
