The return of Tevin Campbell

Marmalade Productions are proud to bring Tevin Campbell back to South Africa after sold out performances in 2013.

Tevin has been an R&B hit since he was 12 years old and will be entertaining his fans at 8pm on July 23 and 24 at Carnival City.

Campbell has worked with some of the industry’s top writers and producers, including Prince, Babyface, Al B. Sure, Narada Michael Walden, Wyclef and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

He has sold of five million albums worldwide, received four Grammy nominations and reached platinum status and will treat his audience to some of the songs which have made him a household name in R&B circles.

At the age of 12, Tevin became one of the youngest solo artists ever signed to a major record label and quickly caught the eye of others in the industry.

Quincy Jones took a special interest in Tevin’s talent and he appeared on Jones’ LP Back on the Block and was featured on “Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me),” which hit number one on the R&B charts in June 1990.

Later that year, he appeared in Prince’s Graffiti Bridge film singing “Round and Round,” which Prince wrote for him and which became a gold single.

In the summer of 1991, he appeared on the soundtrack to Boyz in the Hood singing “Just Ask Me To,” a Top 10 R&B hit.

All of this set the stage for his debut album, 1991’s T.E.V.I.N., which went platinum and spawned two R&B chart-toppers, “Tell Me What You Want Me to Do” and “Alone with You,” as well as the R&B Top Five hit “Goodbye.”

I’m Ready, released two years later, did even better, going double platinum and featuring three Top 10.

Campbell’s compilation album “The Best of Campbell” was a huge international success, reaching multi-platinum status in Africa, Japan and the UK.

“We were compelled to invite Tevin back to the country after so many requests from his fans who could not attend his shows as they were all sold out,” says concert promoter Godfrey Vollenhoven of Marmalade Productions.
