Senior citizens enjoy breakfast

More than 25 senior citizens from Jesus is Light in Eastvale enjoyed breakfast at a Springsgate restaurant on Tuesday morning.

They were treated to a scrumptious breakfast which was sponsored by Jacques du Plessis, owner of the restaurant.

When San van Wyk from Jesus Outreach Project, called on Jacques he was willing to sponsor scones and tea or coffee.

The group of seniors were rather surprised when they arrived at the restaurant and were served breakfast instead of the promised scones and tea.

Maryna Theron, who usually organises events for the senior citizens, asked for San’s assistance in organising something special for the group.

“I am pleased that San is part of our congregation and for her help with the organisation of this event,” says Maryna.

Marius Jonker says the breakfast was a surprise and he enjoyed it a lot.

The seniors each received a slab of chocolate which was another surprise.

Ansie Stevens says the breakfast and chocolate were an awesome treat.

“The food was delicious,” she says.

The group of seniors were joined by Pastor Ben Loubser and his wife Francis who said they love to spend time with the seniors as often as possible.

San saw it fit to give each waiter a chocolate as well in appreciation of their friendly service.
