Tuck shop owner robbed

Three suspects visited a tuck shop, built next to a house in Gugulethu Everest, on Sunday at about 4pm, and robbed the owner of an undisclosed amount of money.

According to the Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the owner of the shop was sitting outside when the men approached him.

One of them then handed him R5 and asked for a cigarette.

“When the owner stepped into the house, to get to the tuck shop, two suspects forcefully entered with him and pointed a gun at him while they demanded money.

“As he refused to disclose where the money was, the suspects pushed him against the wall.

“Upon realising that the situation was getting intense, the owner disclosed where the money he had made for the weekend was and the accused went into his bedroom, took it and fled the scene,” says Ramphora.

No arrests have been made but a case of business robbery has been opened at the Springs Police Station.
