Balaclava-wearing men overpower gardener

At 11.45am last Wednesday, a house in Rhokana Street, Selcourt, was broken into by suspects who allegedly stole two plasma televisions.

According to Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, the house was locked as the residents were not at home.

Ramphora adds that the gardener was working in the back garden when the incident occurred.

“When the gardener (24) went to the small gate, he saw three males with balaclavas and gloves on.

“As they instructed him to lie down, he managed to jump over the fence into the property next door.

“When he peeped over the fence, he saw two suspects carrying a big plasma television, fleeing the scene,” says Ramphora.

Upon further investigation it was discovered that doors were forced open and two plasma televisions were stolen.

No shots were fired and a case of house robbery was opened at the Springs Police Station.
