SAPS nab alleged dealer with 29 packets of dagga and 35 nyaope

A 32-year-old suspect was arrested in the Daggafontein Informal Settlement on Wednesday, and accused of dealing in nyaope and dagga.

Sgt Oelof de Meyer and Const Ishmael Manala followed up on information received from a reliable source with regard to the alleged drug dealing.

When they arrived at the informal settlement at 10am, they noticed the suspect outside a house, holding a black bag.

“When the suspect saw the police he started running, but was caught by them,” says Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora.

They searched the man and found 35 small packets of nyaope and 29 small packers of dagga in his possession.

Ramphora says the street value of 64 bags is approximately R2 000.

The suspect was taken to the police cells and will appear in court soon.

If residents know of anyone who is dealing in drugs they should report it to the police station on 011 365 5700/19/20.
