Miemie, ex-Addie worker dies

Ex-Springs Advertiser worker Miemie Schutte died on March 25 at the age of 91 years.

She lived in Strubenvale with her daughter Ansie Krige (69) until she died.

Miemie worked in the Addie’s stationery shop in Third Street for 41 years until she retired in 2003.

She was born on June 20, 1924 in Springs and married Pieter Schutte in 1941.

They had four children, Marie van der Westhuizen (72), Ansie, and their sister Amanda Holtshauzen who died in 2003, and brother Jurie Schutte who died in 2002.

According to Ansie, who also worked at the Addie for 28 years, her mother had an outstanding personality and was always helpful.

She leaves behind her two daughters Marie and Ansie, five grandchildren, Jacques Krige (48), Francois Krige (45), Mariaan van Rooyen (48), Dirkie van der Westhuizen (45) and Ingrid Holtshauzen (31), nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Her funeral will take place at the NG Church Strubenvale, corner Moffat Avenue and Marks Crescent, Strubenvale at noon on Friday.
