Internet café warns users

Kwatsaduza – Making use of an internet café can also put expose your confidential information to fraudsters and criminals.

According to Duduza internet café owner Batsile Mogodi (42) many people don’t log off after making use of sites. This enables the next person who makes use of the computer to easily access their particulars.

“I see this happening on a daily basis where a person just stands up and leaves the internet café without logging off,” he says.

Another important factor that he highlights is for people to use an internet café that they trust as opposed to walking into any random internet café.

He further explains that some people need assistance with using a computer and that’s when the staff will step in and help out.

“There is no guarantee that customers’ documents that are saved on a Word document will not be accessed if they choose to save on a Word document, unless they request that we save their documents on our internal server for future use,” he says.

Mogodi also warns that internet banking is not the safest thing to do in a public space because of hackers and fraudster.

Internet banking should be done in a more private space and not at an internet café,” he warns.
