Cyclists compete in Cape Town Cycle Tour

Several Springs Wheelers cyclists competed in the Cape Town Cycle Tour (formerly known as the Cape Argus Cycle Tour) on Sunday.

The 109km route was the same as usual and took cyclists from the city centre, down the M3 through to Muizenberg and as far south as Smitswinkel.

From there they headed north again, through Hout Bay and Camps Bay to the finish line in Green Point.

According to club chairman Rudy Bosch, the weather was absolutely perfect for cycling but maybe a bit hot for the late starters.

The first Wheeler home was Henk Smith with a time of 2.58.

Danie Neuhoff’ was doing his 22nd tour in a time of 3.48.

The individual results for our local cyclists are as follows:

Barney Mynhardt – 3.50

Grant Robertson and Ian Gould – four hours.

Wiekus Bothma – 4.12

Andries Joubert – 4.36 on a mountain bike.

Hennie Korff – 4.50.

Mitch Korff – 5h35

Rudy says they are proud of every cyclist who finished the race.
