Pollak Park hosts fund raiser for welfare

The Springs and KwaThema Child Welfare Society held a fundraiser at Pollak Park on Friday in a bid to keep their doors open, and raised close on R 50 000.

Sanet van Moekerken, the project manager, says the day was a success.

“We had 21 four-ball teams playing and managed to secure prizes from various sponsors for the players,” says Sanet.

A local car company had sponsored a vehicle for the welfare to raffle off with tickets but all the tickets weren’t sold, therefore the draw will be in April.

“The weather was on our side, which made it easier for all the players as they weren’t dehydrated in the heat,” adds Sanet.

Pollak Park’s golf pro, Rachel Howard, says more than 200 people attended the prize-giving and a band was present to entertain the guests.

“The amount of support received for the welfare was overwhelming,” says Rachel.

Teams varied from corporate companies to individual players who all took part in the bid to assist the welfare drive.
