Clean drinking water runs from the hydrant all along Third Street and has been a problem for three years claims Ismail.
“I lodged a complaint two years ago and nothing was done to fix the leak,” he says.
He recently phoned Ekurhuleni Metro to make them aware of the problem again.
“The road is also being affected – being permanently wet, potholes have started developing,” says Ismail.
He would like metro to respond as soon as possible to the problem as he feels it’s heartbreaking to see so much clean water going to waste on a daily basis.
“The water runs continuously, day and night, and it is a problem,” says Ismail.
In a time where water is scarce for many people, Ismail feels that urgent attention is required by the metro to fix the leak.
The metro is yet to comment on the leaking hydrant and when it will be fixed.
