Canoeists race through wild waters

Tommy Booth and Jarryd Breeds competed in the FNB Dusi canoe marathon, finishing in 75th position over the weekend.

The 120km canoe race, which starts in Pietermartizburg and finishes in Durban, includes muddy banks, hills and wild waters and had 594 boats finishing.

The canoeists’ experienced rain throughout the three days of the race but still managed to finish in the top 100, finishing in 10 hours and 27 minutes.

Jennie Dallas, Gauteng Canoe Union PR says that Tommy and Jarryd did well despite some challenges and came in the top five in Gauteng.

Tommy was unavailable for comment at the time of publishing.
