Big national and international talent search comes to Gauteng

Gauteng auditions are open for the Summer Heat Model and Talent Search 2016.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to make it big.

Gauteng singers, dancers, actors and model hopefuls can look forward to auditions on February 27 and 28 in Rivonia.

Finalists from each provincial audition will be selected to represent their province at the gala finals later this year.

“We are extremely excited to see the talent that South Africa has to offer at the seventh annual Summer Heat Model and Talent Search auditions,” says Gillian Habib, co-founder and co-director of Summer Heat.

“Each year the talent blows us away and we are sure that this year will be no different. We can’t wait to add more people to our family.”

Besides providing an incredible opportunity for models, singers, actors and dancers to reveal their talents to the nation, the renowned search gives competitors the opportunity to make it on the local and international stage.

At every audition, scouts for the International Talent Showcase will be present to assess the contestants.

The select few who stand out will be invited to perform at this showcase where international scout, talent manager and director of Arts USA, Kim Myers, will be present.

Every contestant also has the opportunity of being evaluated for potential scholarships to study at the New York Film Academy and other tertiary institutes in the USA and Europe.

“Summer Heat Model and Talent Search is a safe, secure and caring launch pad for a career in both the local and international performing arts,” explains Habib.

“We have opened so many doors for South Africans who are already following their dreams.”

Habib explains that several contestants from the previous six years of events have carved out careers within the performance industry or found success, both locally and internationally, in the music, television and film industries.

“Previous competitors have released their own CDs, received scholarships for major New York and Los Angeles film schools and appeared on television, in films and music videos. All of these opportunities were offered to them because they took the chance and performed at the reputable Summer Heat Model and Talent Search,” says Habib.

Gauteng Male Model finalist for 2014, Sasha Robertson, showed what a big platform Summer Heat could provide.

The 16-year-old quickly found his way into the fashion and performing industry, getting cast for Coca-Cola Russia and Kazakhstan TV commercials.

He has also been invited to represent South Africa in the United States which he delayed after being crowned Mr Junior SA 2015/2016.

Most recently, Sasha landed a role in a Disney movie being filmed in South Africa featuring international award-winning celebrities.

Summer Heat Male Model of the Year 2013 is another standout example of the success that can accompany the contest.

Siyabonga Cele, based in Gauteng, went on to be cast in the film, iZulu, which featured at the Durban Film Festival and premiered in London.

He was also invited to audition for the New York Film Academy and secured a partial scholarship to study in New York.

Cele, through Summer Heat, was also engaged as a weekend host on a DSTV morning television programme.

Every contestant who is selected at the regional auditions will be invited to participate in a highly informative five-day week in preparation for the national awards event.

Finalists will gain vital workplace information through various workshops, photo shoots and fun team building exercises that allow contestants to become part of the supportive Summer Heat family.

There are no age limitations for any of the singing, dancing, acting or modelling categories.
