Be on the lookout – new modus operandi for criminals

Springs police have issued a warning to members of the public about a new way in which criminals operate.

It is believed suspects wait outside the properties on refuse removal days in different areas to gain entry to the premises when the owner takes out their wheelie bins or brings it back into the yard.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, two cases were reported over the past week where houses were robbed in Selcourt and Wright Park.

He says the criminals gain entry to the property and then commit house robberies.

Ramphora urges the community to tell their family, friends and colleagues to be vigilant when taking out or taking their refuse bins back inside their yard.

If you are approached, contact the police charge office on 011 365 5700/19/20.
