There is no road sign

I feel obligated to lend my voice to the man who was fined on Wit Road on the way to Nigel two or so weeks ago.

I drove out towards Nigel this morning on Wit Road to confirm my suspicions.

The last road sign indicating the speed limit for the stretch of road towards Nigel is just over the bridge indicating 80km per hour.

This is also painted on the road.

This is the case from here until before the first set of traffic lights in Nigel where the speed limit is indicated once again to be 80km per hour.

At this intersection (Vorsterskroon/Duduza, just before the Nigel golf course), I turned around and travelled back towards Springs.

In this direction, there is a speed limit indicating 80km per hour until just before the first bridge, where the speed limit is increased to 100km per hour.

Approximately 500m before the Dunnottar / air base intersection, there is a speed reduction to 80km per hour, but it is only painted on the road, there is no road sign.

After this, into Springs, up to the bridge before Zincor, there is no road sign increasing the speed limit back to 100km per hour.

Along this road I also noticed that the solid white lines have been extended excessively to prevent overtaking, despite the roads being visible and, if there is no oncoming traffic, it would be safe to overtake.

I feel that the EMPD should revise its approach towards road safety and focus on assisting and promoting road safety for all road users through education and guidance.
