Successful training camp

The Springs Jukskei Club hosted a successful training camp and league game at the club on Saturday.

The Springs club was joined by clubs from Nigel, Boksburg, Avion Park, Impala and Spantou from Kempton Park.

The training camp started at 9am and finished at noon.

Rina Nortje, club secretary, says the aim of the training camp was to prepare the teams for the upcoming Gauteng Open league games in Boksburg on Saturday.

“The training camp is all about coaching the players,” she says.

Different throwing techniques and strategies are worked out to bring out the best game in each player.

The first league games for the season started at 1pm.

Rassie Ras, club chairman, says the competition was quite strong during the league games.

The B1 team Harriet van Loggerenberg, Tiens Oosthuizen, Emiel van Loggerenberg and Koos Oosthuizen played against the B2 team, Marlize Retief, Denise Koekemoer, Rina Nortje and Maureen Harper.

Rina says this team lost one game and won one game 10.5-4.5.

The B1-team also played against Boksburg and lost 5.5-9.5.

The B2-team played against Spantou and lost 3-12.

Springs C-team Morgan Oosthuizen, Paula Cronje, Jannie Barnard and Rassie Ras, played against Avion Park and lost 13-12.

The team’s next round against Spantou was a winner with a total score of 9.5-5.5.

League games will be played in Boksburg on February 13 and in Springs on March 12.

Rassie says the marks are added together to determine the winners at the end of the league matches.

The games will be played against other clubs where the first, second and third places are being determined at the end of the three leagues being played.
