Guests entertain VLU members

The VLU Carpe Diem branch started the year on a high note when three guests performed songs for the members at their opening event recently held at the Rus n Bietjie Retirement Village hall in Paul Krugersoord.

Alwyn Vorster, Connie and Sonja Groenewald Oelofse were very excited when Sarah Henning, a regular guest at the meetings, invited them to sing at the monthly branch meeting.

Christa van der Westhuizen, the branch chairman, thanked the singers for their performances and said that they are always welcome to come and sing at future meetings.

These events go hand in hand with delicious food and Dunnottar resident Marlene Killian surpassed herself by serving delicious hot dishes.

Marsha Horn, a VLU member, says the pie, yellow rice, chicken a la king, salad, flavoured rice and apple tarts for dessert, were well suited for the type of weather experienced that day.

The VLU women get together monthly with various baked or sewing items which are appraised by Betty Logan, one of the branch members.

The next meeting will take place on February 10.
