Changes to water restrictions

The Ekurhuleni Metro has issued the latest water restrictions for local residents.

Spokesman for the metro Themba Gadebe says: “The reservoirs have remained stable over the last few weeks, therefore the ban on filling swimming pools and irrigation has been lifted.

“We will be implementing time-bound restrictions, whereby no irrigation activities should take place between 8am and 4pm.”

The total ban of hose pipes and the filling of swimming pools has been lifted, but Gadebe urges residents to do this only at the times allocated.

“Reservoir levels are currently operating above 70 per cent and, therefore, we are in a position to lift the total ban on irrigation and filling of swimming pools,” he explained.

Residents are urged to avoid washing cars, watering gardens or washing pavements during the times not allocated by the metro.
