Lack of street lights a danger

After four months, Nigel Road residents still require assistance regarding non-functioning street lights.

Andrew de Beer (33) says he has lodged numerous complaints over the past four months to Ekurhuleni Metro regarding the street lights in Nigel Road which do not work.

Andrew says,”I was told to come back daily in the hope of finding the technician, as he is mostly based in Duduza.”

“An accident occurred early Saturday morning due to the lights being off, the driver was unable to see a tree stump in the road,” adds Andrew.

Andrew was informed that once a complaint is lodged it takes up to 28 working days for metro to fix the problem, which he feels is too long for a busy road like Nigel Road

“My house has been burgled twice in the time that the lights have not been working,” says Andrew.

“The Nigel Road residents require urgent assistance from metro as the lights not working poses a danger to residents and drivers.”

Addie is still awaiting comment from metro regarding the street lights.
