VIDEO: Sanet celebrates 25 years of service

While still on leave, she decided not to celebrate the event on her own but rather with the rest of the staff.

Sanet van Moerkerken from Springs and KwaThema Child Welfare Society celebrated 25 years of service, with her staff, at the office in Twelve Street, CBD on Thursday.

While still on leave, she decided not to celebrate the event on her own but rather with the rest of the staff.

“There is nothing better than to celebrate my 25 years service with my dedicated staff,” she says.

Sanet started working there as a junior social worker on January 7, 1991.

Within six years after she took over as chief social worker.

She says it has been a wonderful journey with lots of challenging changes.

Her passion to work with people, especially children, has grown stronger over the years.

“It makes a huge difference to assist where help is needed,” she says.

She is also very proud of her current staff and has come a long way with some of them.

Elmien Biddulph, the financial manager, says to work for 25 years with the trauma and pain people suffer is not always easy, but Sanet has always been a strong person and she admires her for that.

“She is like a mother to us, the nicest humble person who accommodates all our needs,” says Rose Moagi, and office administrator, who has been part of the staff for eight years.

Ayanda Chokwe, an auxiliary worker, has been part of the ‘family’ for more that 10 years.

“I used to come here with my mother Nomasantu Chokwe, who worked here as an auxiliary worker,” she says.

To her Sanet is one of a kind, an excellent person to work with and a wonderful mentor.

“Besides being a boss, she is also a friend, who always acknowledges others,” she concludes.
