Blocked drain overflowing again

Mitta Nkosi (81), a resident at Presidentia, feels the Ekurhuleni Metro disappoints the community when it comes to fixing the main sewage line.

She says there are two sewage drains close to her house at Presidentia, one directly next to her house and the other across the street.

“When one is overflowing the other one stops and the other way around,” says Nkosi.

The same problem occurred in September last year, when the drain was blocked next to her house.

The sewage smell is unbearable and most of the residents have to close their windows and doors to try and breathe in clean air.

Nkosi says it is impossible to live with everything closed with the current heatwave.

“Can the metro not fix the main sewage drain so that there is no repeat of this in the future?” she says.

She is tired of living with the bad odour of overflowing sewage.

The Addie has send questions to the metro but nothing was received at the time of going to print.
