Four love words
Love is a complicated emotion yet special but difficult to understand.
Most people believe it comes from the heart, but in actual fact it is the brain that generates chemical signals to make people understand it.
However, there are four different Greek styles of expressing love and its meaning:
- Phileo love refers to an affectionate and platonic love.
A friendship between people with the same interests and preferences, the kind of friendship love that is used to describe many relationships.
Parents feel it about their children and children to their parents and it is not a shallow love, but rich in emotion and feeling.
- Agape love is more a parental and mature kind of love and is unconditional, regardless of flaws and faults.
It is a committed and chosen love, the kind of love that is all about sacrifice, giving and expecting nothing in return.
Agape is a love described by a person’s reaction towards someone.
- Storge is a kind of family and friendship love, it is a natural powerful love.
It is an unconditional love that is committed and makes people feel secure, comfortable and safe.
- Eros is an emotional, passionate and intense love which arouses romantic feelings.This love can easily end when the person “in love” doesn’t feel good about the relationship and stops loving the person they are in love with.
These four types of love are a general description promoting good, healthy and lenient relationships.
Focusing on a relationship with all four types of love can form an everlasting relationship.
