Robbers shoot customers

Two people were injured during an armed robbery at a business on the corner of Paul Kruger Highway and Tintinkie Road in Presidentsdam on Sunday.

A female bartender, was at work at 12.45am, when two armed suspects entered, firing two shots at the eight people inside the building, injuring two people.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the third suspect demanded cash.

The victims were forced to lie on the ground, while the armed robbers took a laptop, two wallets and R700 in cash, before leaving the scene.

Ramphora says the petrol attendants at the garage next to the business, say the three suspects fled on foot.

The two injured people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“One was shot in the foot, while the other was shot in the leg,” says Ramphora.

The police will look at the CCTV video footage to assist them in their investigation.

A case of attempted murder and business robbery was opened at the police station.
