Water leaks need to be reported

Multiple water leaks in and around the Springs CBD have been reported by various residents over the past few weeks.

The Ekurhuleni Metro was notified about the leaks and spokesman Themba Gadebe responded with the following, “The metro does receive alerts of leaks on a daily basis, and we do our best to attend to them.”

He adds it is vital that alerts are registered on the complaints management system by contacting the call centre.

A reference number is created through this means which allows the relevant department to track and trace the complaint.

“We strive to attend to leaks within 48 hours, depending on their nature. At times we may have a backlog which may take us a bit longer but we do attend to the leaks,” Gadebe explained.

Residents are urged to contact the metro immediately when a leak is discovered. Depending on the gravity of the situation the metro will respond as soon as they are able to.

The metro’s call centre can be contacted on 086 054 3000.
